Celebrate the magic of Thanksgiving on Arizona’s backroads with us! This post dives into our holiday journey, where we explored the vibrant history of Jerome, camped in solitude along Perkinsville Road, and stumbled upon hidden ghost towns.
The Highlights

Jerome, Arizona
This historic mining town, perched on the face of a mountain, offers eclectic shops, haunted hotels, and jaw-dropping views of the Verde Valley. We wandered its narrow, one-way streets and delved into its copper-mining past. It’s a must-see, close to Sedona and packed with quirky charm.

Camping on Perkinsville Road
Situated between Williams and Jerome, this scenic route led us to a secluded campsite
with sweeping views of Sedona’s red rocks. We enjoyed peaceful sunrises, crisp evenings by the fire, and plenty of space for our dogs to roam freely. Interested? Check out our post here for Dispersed camping basic tips to get started!

Hidden Ghost Towns
A spontaneous hike revealed the remnants of Perkinsville, an old train depot once vital to Arizona’s mining operations. Accessible via a short but steep trail, this off-the-beaten-path gem was worth the effort.
